The Sainte Chapelle I had already visited but it had remained in my heart and I wanted to see it again and enjoy it in peace! I also combined a visit to the Conciergerie, which I did not know, and it was a wonderful discovery! I recommend it to everyone! Purchasing the tickets was quick and easy! I had to wait a bit for the entrance to the Chapelle, because despite the reservation with a timetable, the wait was quite long, but it was worth it. In contrast, zero line for the Conciergerie, perhaps because it is less well known

Beautiful stained glass. I would have liked more information about it, the design and the process. There were discussions of which scenes from the bible you were seeing (of course the ones very high up where "lost" in terms of understanding them from a distance). Not the easiest place for someone with mobility issues. You have to climb (and descend) some very tight spiral staircases to see the chapel. And of course, even with tickets, it is quite crowded. I thought it interesting that you actually go through another chapel(?) or whatever that is/was to get to St. Chappell. It looked interesting in its own right, but now is mostly a gift shop. I'm glad I saw it, realistically it doesn't take much more than an hour from start to finish. Ticket lines are pretty well organized, although they sometimes admitted those who had not purchased advanced tickets before those of us who had. If they hadn't done this, the crowds might of been less.

The ticketing experience is fine. The exhibition at the Consciergerie could be a bit more rich. A lot of information is only accessible to foreigners via the tablet visual guide, but only every second person can get one. So, if you are silly enough to say that you are together, you do not get an audiovisual guide in English; you have to share it, and that is very uncomfortable. Why don't they develop a mobile app? The Saint Chapel is beautiful, but the queues and the crowd degrades the experience.

The timed entry line wasn't too long we arrived 10 mins before the allocated time slot and it moved along at the correct time. The unallocated ticket line was extremely long and it was not even peak season so I would recommend organising in advance which I did about a month before we arrrived in Paris, it just takes out the stress and allows you to time manage your visit to Paris itself if you know in advance where you are going to be. The renovation on the Chapel is complete and although it is always busy this doesn't take away from the experience the stained glass windows and the ceilings are awe inspiring not to be missed in my opinion.

Come discover this historic monument in Paris, an architectural gem from the Gothic period, at your own pace. Commissioned by King Saint-Louis and built in 1241, it relives the history of Sainte-Chapelle, guided by a series of information panels.

Sainte-Chapelle

You will learn how the Sainte-Chapelle was originally built to house relics of the Passion of the Christ acquired by the monarch during the 13th century. These include a piece of the True Cross and the Holy Crown, which nearly disappeared in the early 19th century! Starting in 1790, Sainte-Chapelle was restricted to members of the clergy and was emptied of its contents. It progressively became archive storage for the neighboring Palais de Justice also known as Paris’s Court House, until a restoration campaign was started under pressure from the public.

Today, it is no longer possible to admire the relics for which Sainte-Chapelle was built, as they were either lost or displaced during the French Revolution. You can, however, admire the chapel’s breathtakingly beautiful stained-glass windows. With 15 windows of 50 sq. ft. each, you can view the history of the world up until the arrival of the relics in Paris. In total, 1,113 scenes are depicted on the stained glass. Information is provided so that you won’t miss a single detail of these colored glass artworks.

Conciergerie

At the end of the 14th century, the Kings of France abandoned this medieval royal castle (moving to the Louvre, which at the time was more appealing), and it was converted into a jail and revolutionary tribunal. During the French Revolution, it served as a major holding facility and was referred to as "the antechamber to the guillotine. Marie-Antoinette was imprisoned here too — get to visit her commemorative chapel.
