Our tour guide Katarina (?) was amazing and funny. Her stories were great and she helped us navigate the crowds and was very contentious about the other tourists.

We got tickets for noon but found out they were closing from noon-5pm due to extreme heat. Luckily we went when they opened at 8am and we're graciously allowed entry :) beautiful historical site.

The exhibits were all amazing. We especially liked the view from the top floor of the Acropolis monument and of course the real dimension of the Acropolis with the silver columns and the pediments! It has nothing to envy from the Louvre or the London museum! May the Marbles be returned from London and the sixth Caryatid be repatriated soon! All the staff were wonderful and Greece really deserved such a place!

I tried booking after 10 pm for a next-day self-guided tour with Clio, who simply put messed up. That morning I booked a tour with Headout and was done with everything in a minute and headed for a taxi to the Acropolis Museum. The self-guided tour on my cell phone was very interesting and informative. You made it no-stress! Thanks!

Unveiling ancient treasures and a living archaeological site

Opened in 2007, the Athens Acropolis Museum has one of the largest collections of fascinating Greek artifacts and sculptures that were housed in the Parthenon. The primary highlight is the cavernous excavation site below the museum. Believed to be an active neighborhood consisting of sea streets, houses, and shops from around 3000 BC to the 12th century A.D., the site is a highly unique exhibit.

A journey through four captivating galleries

There are four main galleries in the museum, and you have access to all of them! The Gallery of the Slopes of the Acropolis contains objects of everyday life used over the centuries. The Archaic Gallery houses some of the oldest findings dating back to the 7th century B.C. The Parthenon Gallery features a video presentation of the Parthenon and how it was designed and built. The final gallery contains a wide variety of fabulous artifacts including the coffered ceiling of the Propylaea and sculptures from the Temple of Athena Nike. You can also spot a range of amazing portraits depicting philosophers and historical figures. If you so choose, you can learn more about these wonderful artefacts and the museum with the help of an engaging audio guide.

All packages and backpacks must be deposited in the cloakroom on the ground floor of the museum.
